Biography

I’ve been passionate about photography since childhood. I took my first photograph at the age of five and never really stopped looking at the world through a camera afterwards. What began as curiosity gradually became a creative outlet and an important part of who I am today.

I am originally from Ukraine. I speak five languages and am in a constant search for better ways to express myself, yet photography has taught me that there is a language everyone understands, regardless of where they come from. It is a way of communicating what no words, in any language, can ever express.

For my eighteenth birthday, I received the best gift of my life: my very first camera, a Canon EOS M100. It remains my main and favourite digital camera to this day. I enjoy shooting film and experimenting with different Kodak film stocks. My main film camera is a Canon EOS 300. I also shoot with a Canon Sure Shot Supreme point-and-shoot camera and a Fujifilm Instax Square SQ1, both of which bring a more spontaneous and nostalgic feel to photography.

I’m especially drawn to natural light, cinematic compositions, changing weather, and the small details that often go unnoticed — reflections after rain, quiet streets, dramatic landscapes, soft sunset light, or fleeting moments during travel. Rather than focusing on heavily staged scenes, I prefer authenticity and atmosphere. I enjoy capturing places as they are experienced in real life: imperfect, changing, and full of subtle emotion.

I’m part of the Oxford University Photography Society and actively participate in local exhibitions and publications. I share a growing collection of photographs from travels, everyday moments, and outdoor experiences — documenting the places, light, and emotions that leave a lasting impression on me.

When Russia invaded my hometown, I had to leave my life behind and pack only what I could carry in a backpack. A large part of my earlier work was lost during that time. Since then, photography has become especially meaningful to me as a way of preserving memories, emotions, and moments that can disappear unexpectedly.
